Summary: Kaoru, a successful pastry chef suddenly finds a young teen named Toshiya outside his house. Toshiya wants to be just like Kaoru some day and the only way to do that is to ask the master himself to teach him his ways.

I was thinking of fics for jrock_aufics And I thought I was finally going to write one with an NC-17 rating… aaand… I ended up with PG again… ^^;; And the title… don’t ask… it was either that or… ‘Baking Master Totchi’ so yeah… please feel free to leave a comment! ^^

“Toshiya, are you ready for our lessons?”

“Not today. I have other things to do.”

“Toshiya? Lessons?”

“Sorry, I’ll be busy today.”

“We’re really behind schedule, you know?”

“Yes, I’ll make it up to you Kaoru. Just not right now.”

Hmm… how many times have I heard this? Frankly, Toshiya has missed every single lesson for this week. He goes out early in the morning and doesn’t come back until late in the evening.

It’s been the same old alibi everyday. It always has something to do with ‘I’m busy’. Busy with what? At least I finally got an answer to that question this morning.

“Um… dancing. See you Kaoru!”

And right at this moment, I’m still trying to figure out why he would have a sudden interest in dancing.

Was it because I was too hard on him? If that’s the case then I promise I won’t mistake his cookies as coasters again besides, I did say I was only kidding. I’m sure Toshiya’s not the kind who would easily blow a fuse because I’m supposed to be the impatient one.

Okay, just calm down Kaoru. I’m sure there has got to be a logical explanation for all of these. Every time I jump to conclusions I happen to guess wrong all the time. I’m going to make sure not to judge people too hastily this time.

There’s really nothing surprising with Toshiya taking dancing lessons. It’s almost as normal as me taking… flower arranging lessons.

Ew.

So… it’s not so normal after all.

It wouldn’t hurt to do a small investigation.

“Pastry Man?”

“Yes, Kyo?”

“I know this is rude of me to ask but…”

Ask away.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING BACK ON MY DOORSTEP AFTER YOU TOOK TOSHIYA AWAY FROM ME AND LOCKED ME UP IN MY OWN OVEN?”

Whoa… a guy could actually go deaf from all that screaming.

“If you must know, I’m just wondering what Toshiya’s been up to lately. I’m here because you might know the reason.”

“Well, I don’t. Have a nice day Pastry Man. Buh-bye!”

I grabbed the door and stopped it from slamming right into my face. The least he could do was let me in.

“Let go Pastry Man! I don’t want you to step foot in my house ever again!” The little midget didn’t play fair at all when he suddenly sank his sharp teeth on my hand which was holding the door.

Naturally, I pulled back.

I didn’t even get the chance to try and get back inside the house when Kyo locked the door shut.

“Fine! Don’t help me then!”

I’ll go solve this mystery by myself.

“Is he gone?” Toshiya, who was hiding behind the door all the time, spoke up.

“He’s gone all right.”

“That’s a relief. Thanks Kyo!”

“Don’t mention it. But now I’m all curious too. What have you been up to these past few days?”

“Um… I don’t think I can tell you Kyo.”

“Why? Because you don’t trust me enough?”

“No, because I have this feeling that you’re going to blab it to the whole world.”

“Oh… is that all?”

“Yes, and now I have to go! Bye Kyo!” And with that, Toshiya left in a flash.

“…”

Kyo just stood there absorbing the things that had happened that time.

“Hey, wait a minute… TOTCHI!”

Great. Just fucking great. Kyo was my only hope… why in the world did I have to lock him up in the oven?

Now I have to think of other people who could possibly know what Toshiya’s been doing these days. Who are Toshiya’s other friends whom I know as well anyway? Well, there’s Kyo… and…

“Die…”

How come this has never hit me before? Or course it had to be him. But dancing and Die? I don’t those two things really mix together. I should know. I’m a pastry chef. I do all the mixing around here and Die plus dancing makes a recipe for disaster. I’ve seen trees dance better than Die.

Die has Shinya though and who knows, that little assistant of his might be the best player in dance dance revolution.

Could it be that Toshiya’s planning to be the first dancing pastry chef in Japan?

Only way to find out is to ask, Niikura.

The one thing I like about going to Die’s shop this time is that he can’t slam the door on me like what Kyo did. Damn it, I’m coming in as a customer and if he pushes me out his shop, I’ll make sure that this gets to the owner, who is Die, and make him fire himself.

“Welcome to Happy Cupcake.” Shinya greeted me when I set foot into their store. His expression quickly changed though upon seeing me.

“Kaoru-san! What… what are you doing here?”

Hmm… that’s definitely a guilty look if I’ve ever seen one.

“I’m just wondering if you’ve seen Toshiya around here.”

“To-Toshiya-san? Nope. Haven’t seen him. Not at all.” I raised an eyebrow at this. Yes, not only does Shinya have the most obvious guilty look ever but he’s probably the worst liar too.

“Okay, I know he’s here. Where is he?”

“I already told you. He’s not here. Besides, I won’t allow him to stay here anyway and give him a chance to spend more time with my Die-sama.”

“Are you sure?” I started to walk toward the kitchen, ignoring the smaller man already trying to block my path.

“Yes, I’m sure. Now if you’re not going to buy anything I suggest you go back to minding your own shop.”

“Now, that’s not the proper way to treat a customer, is it? Where’s Die? I want to see him.”

“He’s not here. He’s um… on vacation… um… in Hawaii!” Shinya raised his hands, preventing me from going any further.

“Oh? I didn’t know Hawaii is now inside Die’s kitchen. I would sure love to see that.” I easily pushed the small fry away and made my way into the kitchen.

“No!”

Sorry, too late.

“What the fuck?” To my surprise, there was no one inside the kitchen. Well, no one besides the other pastry chefs doing their job and this giant cake in the middle of the room. What I meant was there was no sign of Toshiya and Die inside.

“What did I tell you? They’re not here.” Again, Shinya was in front of me. “If you don’t mind, the kitchen is off limits to non-employees.” He said as he ushered me out of the said room.

I frowned. I couldn’t think of any place else where I could find Toshiya. I wasn’t about to give up. Niikura Kaoru is no quitter.

I left the place feeling frustrated with what had happened. Maybe this is one of the few times that Die had an unhappy customer leave his shop. How ironic, since the name of his shop says otherwise.

This is not good, not good at all. Days turned to weeks and weeks turned to well, more weeks and I still haven’t gotten a clue to what Toshiya has been up to.

I’ve tried and tried but I’ve failed. Let’s face it. I’m just not trained to be nosy, to pry into other people’s business. Mainly because I don’t give a damn about anyone’s business except mine. But this is Toshiya we’re talking about.

Here I am, alone in my house again. It’s like I never asked Toshiya to live with me in the first place.

I really miss him a lot. I never realized coming back to a home without my Toshiya in it could be this… lonely, and this coming from a man who has lived on his own for so long.

“Come home Toshiya… I don’t care if we have to miss all our lessons… I just want to see you for more than five seconds.”

And to make things worst, I have a visitor now knocking on my door. Can’t people feel it when I’m not in the mood to be sociable right now?

The knocking became more urgent and I was tempted at that moment to strangle whoever it was behind the door. “I’m coming. Hold your horses.”

Jesus, whoever you are… this better be important.

“SURPRISE!” I jumped back when I was suddenly attacked by multiple colored balloons.

“Holy shit.” Are you people lost? I’m quite sure I don’t have any reason to celebrate right now.

“Happy birthday!” Several voices greeted behind the balloons.

My birthday? Was that today? I swear, I was so preoccupied with Toshiya that I forgot all about the date and time.

Whoopee… a free party is not really something I should complain about but if you can’t celebrate it with the person most important to you then what’s the fun in that?

I finally managed to get the balloons inside the house and the faces behind them started to reveal themselves. There was Die, Shinya, and Kyo. Oh, and they seem to have brought a giant cake with them, which looks oddly familiar by the way.

“Are you just going to stand there? Let us in, Pastry Man!” Ah, Kyo… you’re polite as always.

“Come on in, guys…” I moved to the side, opening the door some more allowing the giant cake more room to get in.

“What’s wrong Kaoru? It’s your birthday. C’mon let me see a smile.” Die put a hand on my shoulder, shaking me a little.

I tried, I really tried to show him a smile.

“You call that a smile? I’ve seen a happier face on a dead fish.” Obviously I failed.

“I know what will make you happy!” Die pushed me, making me seat on the chair behind me.

Maybe I sound too hopeful but what I’d really want for my birthday is my Toshiya. Give him to me, Damn it!

“Bring the cake over.” Die motioned to Kyo and Shinya. Great, more cake. As if I’ve never seen one in my entire life before.

“Trust me on this one, Kaoru. You’ll love this.” Fine. I’ll humor you. Die stepped back to dim the lights, leaving the cake and me alone in the room. Oh Die, it’s what I’ve always wanted, a date with a giant cake on my birthday.

Before I even noticed it, music started to flood the room. Are you crazy people expecting me to dance with the cake too?

I simply sat there, listening to the music and waiting for something to happen.

Even though the music was booming, I could still make out what Die was mumbling to his other two companions.

“I don’t get it. He should be out by now. Do you guys think the lid is stuck?”

Wait a minute. Are you telling me that…

Before I could finish that train of thought, a knocking sound was heard from inside the cake.

“Um… guys… a little help… I think I’m running out of oxygen here…”

I gasped. There was no mistaking it. That was Toshiya’s voice I heard! He’s here, he’s actually here! And… oh my god… he’s inside that cake and… was he going to do what I was thinking he would? My sweet innocent Toshiya? Someone, please catch me. I think I’m going to faint.

“Shit…” I heard Die curse as he took a vacant chair and stood on top of it, trying to take the lid off. He quickly moved out of the picture once he got the top off.

I had to use up all the will power I had to not get up from my seat and start jumping around like a happy fan girl.

The first thing I saw were Toshiya’s hands, pulling himself up from inside the cake. His hair was done and he had make-up on but what really caught my attention was the outfit he was wearing.

He was wearing this black corset and a pair of almost non-existent leather shorts. He had a black chocker on and knee-high boots.

What happened to the Toshiya I knew? Whatever Die did to him… wow. I for one am not complaining to his transformation.

Toshiya looked straight into my eyes and licked his lips sexily. I gulped, unable to contain the emotions I was feeling right now.

He first took one foot out then the other, slowly making his way down each layer of the cake like his was walking down the stairs.

Just when I thought I’ve never seen anything sexier than this…

THUD!

Toshiya falls face first to the floor.

I literally have to bite my lower lip to keep myself from laughing out loud. I hope Die’s happy. Nothing could wipe the smile off my face now.

“Mou…” Toshiya whined a little as he stood up. That cute blush, which I missed so much, was on his cheeks again as he made his way toward me.

What surprised me next was that he started to sway his hips this way and that. He was… dancing. So that was what this has been all about. It was his birthday gift to me. No wonder he didn’t want me to find out.

I took a quick glance at Toshiya’s face and I swear he looked like he was trying to remember every step Die, or whoever it was that taught him. And I think he was anyway. He was losing the sexy image and was going back to his cute one, which I much prefer, mind you.

He continued to sway his hips, moving his hands around his body and only stopped when he was standing right in front of me. He then sat down on my lap, making me swallow back a moan.

He leaned close to my ear and whispered ever so softly, his breath tickling the outside of my ear.

“Happy birthday, Kaoru-sensei…”

The truth is, I would have taken him right then and there if it weren’t for my amazing will power.

“Did you like it? Was I any good?” Eh?

“Don’t stare at me like that… say something! I messed up the first part but I did try my best.” He was back to his normal cheerful self. That ruined the mood completely but it wasn’t like I was REALLY planning to do anything that moment. Not with Die, Shinya, and Kyo in the house. I’m not insane for crying out loud.

It didn’t matter anyway. The important thing was that Toshiya made me the happiest pastry man ever and I don’t even care right now if I don’t get some loving tonight.

“I loved it.” I replied with a genuine smile.

He smiled back and kissed me firmly on the lips, pressing our bodies together. He pulled back after a few seconds and hugged me, resting his head on my shoulder.

“I love you, Kaoru-sensei.”

Aaw… that made my stomach flutter.

“I love you too, Toshiya…” I placed a hand on his back, pulling him closer, while my other hand stroked his hair.

I looked around the room remembering that I had three other guest but they were nowhere to be found. I guess they were smart enough to give me and Toshiya some space.

I looked back at the giant cake and now I recall where I had last seen it. In Die’s kitchen. So that redhead was the one responsible for this after all.

The only thing that I caught my attention was a hole on one layer of the cake, which looked like someone had bitten a part out of it. I don’t remember seeing that when I first saw the cake in Die’s kitchen. In fact, I don’t remember seeing that all through Toshiya’s performance.

“I wonder…”

“I can’t believe Toshiya never told me about this…” Kyo grumbled as he walked down the road with Die and Shinya.

“Toshiya never told you? No wonder you didn’t know that cake was made out of cardboard.” Die laughed.

“Hey, for a professional pastry chef… that cake you made, really tasted awful.” The blond grumbled some more.

Author’s notes: Yes, I finally updated after being gone for sooooo long… ^^;; I was so busy these past few months, being a graduating student and all. But school’s over now! That means I have more free time. And my parents bought me a new laptop! *O* Motivation is they key word here… ^^;; So… I hope you guys liked the final chapter… even though took me eons to post it. I’ll still post that epilogue so watch out for that. ^__^
